///WHY YOUR RE-TARGETING ADS SUCK A LOT///- Ryan Steenburgh

Have you ever bumped into someone in public and they said, "Hey (Name) how are ya?

But you couldn't remember their name?

I'm sure it's happened to all of us at least once...

And you get that awkward feeling because you have no Idea who they are, but they know you...

it can't be your fault though... you meet A LOT of people everyday - how're you supposed to remember one person?

Then you start back tracking trying to remember...

Going through everything you can think of...

AND BOOM!

You remember.

You start having a conversation, and talking to the other person, reminiscing, etc...

===============================================

Let's switch roles for a second...

Pretend you're scrolling through your newsfeed and see an ad that says, "Hey! Noticed you visited my site blah blah blah"

^^ Probably not literally that - but something along those lines.

I bet when you see that you think,

"what? I don't remember this"

Then our next instinctive reaction is to CLICK THROUGH THE AD...

Because we're hoping that it will remind us of whether we visited - and if you're sending people to a product page that's basically a DIGITAL FOLLOW UP.

===============================================

Sales guys have a phrase that I've been applying to my marketing... it goes like, "The sale is in the follow-up"

See most people are running retargeting ads and saying things like, "Don't miss out on X"

Or

"Last chance for blah"

But what they don't realize is this:

Running a Re-targeting campaign is like following up with someone in sales.

If you're trying to sell someone a vacuum cleaner, and they seemed kind of interested at first...

Your follow-up isn't going to be, "DONT MISS OUT ON THIS VACUUM CLEANER DEAL"

It's going to be more conversation - more rapport...

It's going to be re-exposing pain points...

And getting them to be intrigued with your offer again...

So the main idea is this:

Don't be spammy with re-targeting ads..

Act like you're following-up with someone - be a real person.

FOR EXAMPLE:

I have a client that runs a top of the hour webinar and pushes people to a phone call for his services...

I made some Re-targeting ads for him that used a picture of a grandma that talked about how hard he must have it in his business since his grandma reached out to me...

I talk about how she told me his business is taking up too much of his time and he needs to incorporate automated systems so he can take his grandma on vacation...

See how that's more of a conversation? A little bit of humor? And how it shows he's a real person?

It's not:

"DONT MISS YOUR PHONE CALL TO GET SYSTEMS FOR YOUR BUSINESS"

===============================================

Anyway, that's all guys.

I hope this helped ya.

If it did lemme know with a like - and if you have any questions just drop a comment and I'll try my best to answer them.

Thanks

Love ya.

-Ryan
